Col. James A. "Andy" Nuce

Col. Andy Nuce graduated Magna Cum Laude and as the Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida, and commissioned into the Medical Service Corps in 1999.

Nuce completed a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. He also completed a Master of Business Administration degree with a focus in Supply Chain Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. His military training and education include the Medical Service Corps Officer Basic Course, Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, the Medical Service Corps Officer Advanced Course, U.S. Army Medical Materiel Agency’s Medical Logistics Management Internship, the U.S. Special Operations Command Acquisition Internship, Command and General Staff College (Resident), and the U.S. Army War College.

Nuce’s first duty station was Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where he served as a Platoon Leader in Company B, 147th Medical Logistics Battalion (Rear); Chief of Logistics, Medical Element, Joint Task Force Bravo, Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras; and the 147th Accountable Officer, servicing Fort Hood with Class VIII supplies. He served as Chief of Materiel and PROFIS Company Commander, Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado, and Company A, 172nd Medical Battalion (LOG) during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as Property Book Officer for HHC, 30th Medical Brigade, in Heidelberg, Germany, and Baghdad, Iraq, during OIF. He served as Support Operations Officer and then Commander, Company A, 226th Medical Logistics Battalion, in Germany and Balad, Iraq. He served as the Assistant Product Manager to Medical Communications for Combat Casualty Care at Fort Detrick, Maryland, deploying and sustaining software and hardware for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He served as Deputy Commander for Operations at the U.S. Army Medical Materiel Center - Korea, Camp Carroll, South Korea. He also served as Executive Officer, 168th Multifunctional Medical Battalion, Camp Walker, South Korea. He served as Biomedical Portfolio Manager and Medical Acquisitions Officer, USSOCOM, MacDill AFB, Florida; and Commander, Troop Battalion, Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii. Additionally, he served as Division Chief, Department of Leader Training, Medical Center of Excellence. His last assignment was as Commander, U.S. Army Medical Materiel Development Activity.

Nuce’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (8 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (6 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary & Service Medals, Humanitarian Service Medal, the NATO Medal, Expert Field Medical Badge, Basic Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. He is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit, 1993 Soldier of the Year, 525th Military Intelligence Brigade, and 1996 NCO of the Year, 470th Military Intelligence Brigade.
